Rolling Stones perform in Boston.

July 18, 1972

The concert is held up by the drug arrest of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards in Warwick, Rhode Island. With the sellout crowd at Boston Garden growing impatient, Mayor Kevin White takes the stage and asks the band’s fans for their patience. The Rhode Island police subsequently release Jagger and Richards and, with help from a police escort, the band arrives in Boston and begins their concert shortly after midnight. The perform again the next evening.
